Prof. Jan Cornelis Visits CASIA

Prof. Jan Cornelis, a member of the Commission on Technology Policy of the Flemish Council of Science Policy in Belgium, paid a visit to Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA) on Sep. 15, 2010.

Dr. TAN Tieniu, vice secretary-general of CAS, gave a warm welcome to Prof. Jan Cornelis and made a brief introduction to CAS. He also cited examples of CAS’ international cooperation with Max Planck Society and French research institutes, and expressed hope to promote bilateral exchange and cooperation between China and Belgium by every possible means.

Prof. Jan Cornelis said that Belgium was ready to strengthen cooperation with CAS. He also showed interests in CAS’ International Talent Exchange Program and Sino-Euro PhD Joint Training Program.

In addition, both sides had a discussion on technology transfer, joint training of doctorate candidates, exchange of postdoctors, and especially the pattern for future cooperation on the established joint laboratories including the Sino-French Laboratory for Computer Science, Automation and Applied Mathematics at CASIA.
