China’s first large-scale 3D science animation “Invention Story”, co-produced by Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIA ) and Suzhou Tianrun Anding Animation Co., Ltd., made its debut on CCTV children’s channel on March 18, 2011.
The animation takes a fox that is clever, lively, thoughtful and eager to innovate as the hero. It fully displays the invention principles and invention processes of toilet bowl, robot, elevator, carousel, hot air balloon, fire extinguisher, and vending machine through 52 amazing inventive stories, making great contributions for science popularization.
CASIA introduced “Fur Rendering Technology” into the play to realize lifelike fur for all characters and create a high quality animation that meets film standard, gaining high praise of professional personnel at home and abroad. John Stevenson, world-renowned animation master and director of Kung Fu Panda, was impressed by the play, saying “The little fox is very cute. Your production is excellent and your fur production can be comparable with Dream Works!”.
“It is my first time to see such vivid animated characters made in China”, expressed Prof. WU Guanying from Tsinghua University, designer ofFuwa for2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
