Analysis and Understanding of Visual Patterns

AbstractThe applicant is committed to theoretical and applied research in the fields of pattern recognition and computer vision. Main innovative work includes the fundamentals of pattern recognition and image (sequence) analysis and understanding, such as gait recognition, human activity analysis and unsupervised visual clustering, all of which are basic and cutting-edge problems in the pattern recognition and computer vision community. In addition to the 7 edited/authored books, the applicant has published more than 120 papers (including high-quality international journals such as TPAMI, TIP and PR, and well-recognized international conferences such as ICCV, CVPR and ICDM). These publications have been cited 6371 times by Google Scholar and 822 times by SCI since 2010. The applicant has obtained various honors and awards, e.g., the special prize of the CAS president scholarship, the nomination of 100 national excellent doctoral dissertation award, the first-class science and technology award of Beijing, etc. In terms of professional activities, the applicant is currently an IEEE senior member and an IAPR fellow, as well as being on the editorial boards of six international journals, a guest editor of 8 international journals, a reviewer of more than 20 international journals, a PC member of over 40 major international conferences, and a PC chair of about 10 international symposiums, IEEE AVSS 2012 and IAPR ACPR 2015.
