Dr. Liu got the Bachelor degree of Engineering from Tianjin University in 1997, Master degree of Engineering from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2000, and PhD from the Department of Computer Sciences and Engineering of Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2003. His researches interests include statistic learning, pattern recognition, and signal processing. He has published over 20 academic papers in related international journal and conference proceedings, including 16 Sci Indexed and 8 Ei indexed. His works were supported by the NSFC and 863 programme. |

Academic Achievements |
Dr. Liu has many years of research experience in the field of image processing and pattern recognition, especially in the subspace model and its applications. For instance, he proved a fundamentally important theorem for independent component analysis – the so called one-bit-matching theorem; he also proposed the methodology of the subspace based shape detection.
